My workplace organization is a school (SMP). Generally, the goal of learning
and teaching activity in a school is “to
yield human beings who have excellent knowledge, attitude, and psychomotor”.
Government translates these goals as: “the school must be able to be a education institution that yield human
beings who have excellent quality so they are able to and proactive reply the
epoch challenge that always change” (in vision of National Education).
The School Base Management concept directs each school as an
organization that have self autonomy, so each school have self vision which
support the vision of National Education. However, my workplace school has
vision: “To be SMP that able to yield students who have strong faith
ness, excellent character, and wealth of achievement”.
CASES
We able to know what things need to be changed urgency if we know the
critical problems that resist the goals achievement process, firstly. The critical problems that I can see in my
workplace organization are:

Too many
tasks which be finished slowly (out of time) because of the weakness in
computer literacy of personnel. This situation implies in stacking many tasks
on one/some person (who have computer skill).
Below are facts (appropriate data) which
indicate this problem:
o
The vice
head master in curriculum area had not been replaced by other person for more
than 10 years (1996 until 2006). Too many tasks that use computer as media were
the principal reason for this situation.
o
The same
person (the vice head master in curriculum area) frequently did tasks which out
of his job area if the tasks have to use computer as media.
o
There is
less of using media information technology in teaching process whereas some
media available.

There is
hard to accept something new (less of ability work in
a dynamics environment).

There is
less of motivation to go forward and change.
ANALYSIS
Based of the critical problems above I suggest that the agent need to be
changed urgency is the people,
whereas other change agents (structure, product, technology) have to be changed later.
The change of the people in my workplace organization (school) is the
change in:

Attitudes; Personals have less of attention and reaction
to technology progress.
·
Expectations; Current personals expectation is the learning and teaching activity
carried out. The expectation must be changed become increasing quality and
achievement along with the epoch progress.
·
Perceptions; The perception that computer skill needed only by some person/staff
must be changed become perception that computer skill have to owned by every
personnel in school.
·
Behavior; Static behavior must be changed become dynamics, flexible, and
adaptable behavior.
RECOMMENDATION
To execute the above change is needed the following process:
Phase 1: Unfreezing
The best courses of actions for this phase are:
•
Prepare situation for the change by way of study of consideration with
institutions/schools that have used widely computer media and information
technology in their organization activities, especially in teaching and
learning activity at school.
•
This activity may be able to change attitude, expectation, and perception
of personnel about taking benefit computer media, and information technology in
their activities.
Phase 2: Changing
The best courses of actions for this phase are:
The school encourages all teacher and staff to
take a training of computer and information technology.
Phase 3: Refreezing
The best courses of actions for this phase are:

Rearrange job division.
•
Make new job descriptions.
•
These activities may be able to make new personal behavior.
Thus are my perceptions about what must be
changed urgency at my workplace organization.
